Learning Outcomes: I can articulate the three tiers of vocabulary, determine which vocabulary words to use with my students, and utilize routines that support student learning and connect to your curriculum.

In this literacy-focused sectional, participants will recognize the importance of careful vocabulary selection to support student understanding. Attendees will build an understanding of the 3 tiers of vocabulary, where it’s important to spend your time, and how to choose the right vocabulary words. Learn several high leverage routines and reflect on how these routines support students learning and connect to your curriculum.

Laura Deering graduated from Carroll University with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Early Childhood and Adaptive Education. She also holds a Master’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh in Reading (Reading Specialist 316/317). Deering spent the majority of her career in the Appleton School District as a Reading Interventionist and Literacy Coach. Her passion is working with Teachers, Coaches and Administrators in order to support student learning.
