Sustaining His Work: God-Pleasing Self-Care and Ministry Commitment explores how intentional self-care aligns with God’s will and strengthens our ability to serve. Through scriptural insights, practical strategies, and shared experiences, this session will inspire and equip you to balance care for self and commitment to ministry, ensuring long-term sustainability and faithfulness in serving His kingdom.

Shawn Herkstroeter has 29 years of WELS school ministry experience. He graduated from Martin Luther College in 1996, earned a Masters in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in 2004, and completed the School of Professional Life Coaching Program through Light University in 2021. Herkstroeter currently serves as the Coordinator of Coaching for Grace in Action. In this capacity, he is leading an initiative to bring ministry and leadership coaching to all WELS teachers, school leaders, and staff ministers. Herkstroeter is also a lead consultant for Blueprint Schools and an adjunct professor for Wisconsin Lutheran College. He believes that one’s three-legged stool–spiritual, emotional, and physical health is paramount for personal wellness and ministry effectiveness. Shawn strives to love his wife and children like Jesus does and enjoys working out, golfing, bow hunting and pheasant hunting with his bird dog, Bella.
