Feedback: The Key Element of Educational Ministry

Regardless of developmental level, feedback has incredible power. However, feedback is a double-edged sword that can promote or hinder learning and motivation, so using it effectively is vital. This presentation will address broad-based feedback principles (with teaching, coaching, & parenting implications), the role of feedback in the learning process, the importance of designing classroom systems that allow effective feedback to thrive, and ensuring feedback makes our schools places of ministry.

Dr. Ryan Rathje has served schools in various capacities from grades 3-12. His interests and research revolve around: grading and assessment practices, formative feedback & assessment, curriculum design, and motivation. He currently serves as Academic Dean and instructor at St. Croix Lutheran Academy and as a graduate adjunct faculty member for Martin Luther College.
