Early Childhood Ministry and Board Collaboration

In this session, early childhood teachers and administrators will learn how to effectively work with the Board of Education and other governing authorities as partners in the same ministry. Participants will discuss the roles of the Early Childhood administrator and the Board of Education, view different models of administrative structures in the Early Childhood Ministry, and extend one’s personal repertoire of communication skills and strategies for building and maintaining a relationship with the Board of Education.

Rachel Burgess is an MLC graduate of 2002(B.S.) and 2011(M.S.). Starting as a 16-yr-old preschool aide in Houston, TX, she has served in several part-time preschool programs as well as year-round childcare centers. Her Early Childhood Ministry calls include Baton Rouge, LA (2000-01), La Crescent, MN (2002-2004), and Inver Grove Heights, MN (2005-06). She was a Center Director for Kindercare Learning Centers (2004-05), taught Kindergarten at Lamb of God in West Allis, WI (2006-07) and Director/teacher at Trinity in Caledonia, WI (2008-2015). Rachel currently teaches 2 MLC courses for the Educational Administration Masters Program and 3 MLC courses for the Early Childhood Educator Series.
